If you’ve ever Googled “salmon pasta recipe” at 5:47pm while staring into the fridge… welcome, you’re among friends.
Salmon pasta is one of those rare unicorn meals that ticks every box: quick, comforting, and—crucially—high in protein. Whether you’re feeding the family, batch cooking for the week, or just trying to avoid another beige freezer meal, this list has you covered.
Most of these recipes deliver roughly 25–40g protein per serving (estimate) thanks to salmon being an absolute protein powerhouse. You’ll find creamy sauces, fresh citrusy options, spicy Cajun twists, and even pasta salads for warmer days.
The best part? These are all realistic, doable meals. No cheffy nonsense. Just proper dinners that work in real life.
1. Maple Glazed Salmon Pasta Salad

6. Cajun Salmon Alfredo
This one brings the heat. Cajun spices add a smoky kick that cuts through the creamy Alfredo sauce beautifully. If your dinners are feeling a bit bland lately, this will sort that out quickly.

This one somehow manages to feel creamy without actually using loads of cream. It’s lighter in calories but still delivers on texture and flavour. Ideal if you want a healthier option that doesn’t feel like one.

Think Caesar salad, but upgraded. The creamy dressing, pasta, and salmon make this a proper filling meal rather than a side dish. Great for lunches or quick dinners when you don’t fancy cooking.
12. Creamy Cajun Salmon Pasta

A slightly different direction with Asian-inspired flavours. The miso adds depth and umami, while sesame brings nuttiness. Great if you’re bored of creamy sauces.

22. Canned Salmon Pasta
Budget-friendly and surprisingly good. Tinned salmon makes this quick, easy, and perfect for cupboard cooking. Ideal for those nights when planning didn’t happen.
These 5 easy high-protein dinners are designed for busy households who want proper meals without spending hours cooking.
You’ve got a mix of slow cooker comfort, tray bake simplicity, and fakeaway-style favourites that feel like a treat but still support your goals.
1. Diet Coke Chicken – High-Protein Fakeaway Classic
This one sounds questionable until you try it… then suddenly it’s on weekly rotation. Diet Coke Chicken is sticky, savoury, slightly sweet, and ridiculously easy to make. The sauce reduces down into this glossy, flavour-packed coating that clings to the chicken like it means business. It’s a proper fakeaway-style dinner that’s high in protein, low in effort, and perfect when you want something different without overthinking it.
2. Slow Cooker Chicken Korma – Creamy, Easy & High-Protein
This is your “throw it in and get on with your day” dinner. A slow cooker korma that’s creamy, mild, and packed with flavour — without being overly heavy. The chicken turns ridiculously tender, and the sauce does all the work while you’re off doing literally anything else. Ideal for busy days when cooking is the last thing on your mind but you still want something comforting and high in protein.
3. Tuscan Salmon – High-Protein Creamy Midweek Winner
This is one of those meals that looks like it belongs in a restaurant but takes barely any effort to pull together. Flaky salmon, a creamy garlic and tomato sauce, and plenty of flavour going on — all while keeping things high in protein and surprisingly balanced. Perfect for when you want a break from chicken but still need something quick, satisfying, and slightly impressive.
4. Sweet Potato Stovies – High-Protein Scottish Comfort
A proper comfort dish with a high-protein twist. Sweet Potato Stovies take that classic hearty, warming vibe and lighten it up slightly while still delivering big flavour. It’s filling, simple, and ideal for colder nights when you want something that sticks to your ribs (in a good way). Plus, it’s great for batch cooking and reheats brilliantly.
5. Greek Chicken Tray Bake – One-Pan High-Protein Hero
Greek Chicken Tray Bake Recipe
This is midweek cooking at its absolute best. Everything goes on one tray, into the oven, and comes out as a flavour-packed, high-protein dinner with minimal washing up. Juicy chicken, roasted veg, lemon, herbs — it’s fresh, simple, and ridiculously easy to throw together. Ideal when you want something healthy but can’t be bothered juggling multiple pans.
How to Choose the Right One (Because Decision Fatigue Is Real)
-
Want a fakeaway vibe? → Diet Coke Chicken
-
Need zero effort? → Slow Cooker Korma

Or rotate all five and suddenly midweek dinners become a lot less stressful.
If you’re wondering how to fix slow cooker recipes that have turned watery, bland or dry, you’re not alone.
Slow cookers are meant to make life easier. Chuck everything in, walk away, come back feeling like a domestic wizard.
Until you lift the lid and it looks like beige soup.
If you’ve ever Googled “how to fix slow cooker recipes” while staring at something watery, bland or weirdly dry at the same time (how is that even possible?), you’re in the right place.
I develop and test slow cooker recipes professionally. And here’s the truth: most disasters aren’t your fault. They’re usually down to how slow cookers actually work — and a few common mistakes that almost everyone makes.
Let’s fix tonight’s dinner… and stop it happening again.
Why Slow Cooker Recipes Go Wrong
Slow cookers trap moisture, don’t reduce sauces properly, and cook at a steady low temperature for hours. That’s brilliant for breaking down tougher cuts of meat — but it also means flavours can dull, liquid can build up, and lean proteins can overcook.
Most slow cooker “failures” come down to four things: too much liquid, not enough seasoning, the wrong cut of meat, or cooking it for longer than necessary.
The good news? All of them are fixable.
How to Fix a Watery Slow Cooker Recipe
If your dinner looks more like soup than sauce, don’t panic. This is the most common slow cooker issue — and it’s usually easy to fix.
Quick Fix (Tonight)
1. Remove the lid and turn to high.
Let it cook uncovered for 20–30 minutes to allow excess liquid to evaporate.
This works particularly well in tomato-based dishes like my Slow Cooker Bolognese or something saucy like Slow Cooker Spanish Chicken, where the base already has body.
2. Use a cornflour slurry.
Mix 1 tablespoon cornflour with 1–2 tablespoons cold water. Stir in on high and cook uncovered for 10–15 minutes until thickened.
3. Mash some of the contents.
This works brilliantly in bean-heavy dishes like Slow Cooker Chilli Con Carne. Mash a ladleful and stir it back in — the starch thickens naturally.
For Next Time
-
Use 25–30% less stock than you would on the hob.
-
Remember vegetables release water as they cook.
-
Thicken at the end, not the beginning.
Watery doesn’t mean ruined. It just means unfinished.
How to Fix a Bland Slow Cooker Dish
Slow cooking softens flavour. What tasted well-seasoned at the start can taste flat hours later.
The good news? Bland is one of the easiest problems to fix.
Quick Fix (Tonight)
1. Add salt.
Most slow cooker meals are simply under-seasoned.
2. Add acidity.
A squeeze of lemon juice, a splash of vinegar or Worcestershire sauce can instantly wake up a dull dish.
3. Boost the umami.
Soy sauce, tomato purée or a small spoon of Marmite can deepen savoury flavour.
This is why properly built recipes like Slow Cooker Beef Stifado and Slow Cooker Chicken Chasseur start with sautéed aromatics and layered seasoning — they don’t rely on time alone for flavour.
For Next Time
-
Always sauté onions and garlic first. Frying them for 5–8 minutes builds sweetness and depth that slow cooking alone cannot create.
-
Garlic needs 30–60 seconds in oil to remove that harsh raw edge.
-
Browning meat is optional — but recommended.
-
Season lightly at the start, properly at the end.
Slow cookers soften flavour. They don’t magically create complexity.
How to Fix Dry Chicken in a Slow Cooker
Dry chicken is usually a cut problem, not a cooking problem.
Lean chicken breast doesn’t love long cooking. It can turn stringy — especially on high.
Quick Fix (Tonight)
1. Shred it and coat it in sauce.
Shredding helps it reabsorb moisture.
2. Add creaminess.
Stir in a spoon of Greek yoghurt, crème fraîche or a little cream.
This works particularly well in creamy dishes like Slow Cooker Chicken Korma or Slow Cooker Marry Me Chicken, where moisture is part of the design.
3. Add a splash of hot stock.
For Next Time
-
Use chicken thighs for long cooking.
-
If using breast, reduce the cooking time or add it later (as I do in certain higher-protein slow cooker dishes).
-
Don’t assume longer = better.
Can You Save an Overcooked Slow Cooker Meal?
Sometimes you rescue it. Sometimes you pivot.
Quick Fix (Tonight)
-
Shred it and add moisture.
-
Add fat (olive oil, butter, yoghurt).
-
Serve it mixed into rice or wraps instead of large chunks.
If It’s Too Far Gone
Don’t bin it.
Turn it into something new:
-
Dry beef from something like Slow Cooker Beef Casserole can be shredded and used in tacos.
-
Chicken can be mixed into pasta with extra sauce.
-
Add stock and vegetables and turn it into soup.
Texture matters less when something is chopped and sauced.
How to Prevent Slow Cooker Disasters in the First Place
Most slow cooker problems are small technical misunderstandings.
Here’s the simple checklist:
Build flavour at the start
-
Sauté onions and garlic.
-
Brown meat if possible.
-
Adjust seasoning at the end.
Control the liquid
-
Use less stock than you think.
-
Expect vegetables to release moisture.
-
Thicken at the end.
Choose the right protein
-
Thighs, brisket and shoulder cuts love slow cooking.
-
Lean cuts need shorter cooking times.
Slow cookers are one of the easiest ways to cook high-protein, family-friendly meals with minimal effort — when you understand how they work.
Or, you can just use properly tested slow cooker recipes and skip the trial and error altogether.

I’ve been sent a fair few unusual things over the years.
Protein bars that taste like damp cardboard.
Kitchen gadgets that promised to change my life and ended up gathering dust next to the bread maker.
But this one’s a first.
The folk at Polar Recovery got in touch and asked if I fancied reviewing their Polar Nova 1-Person Infrared Sauna for 30 days.
Yes, an actual sauna. In my house.
Before you picture a log cabin and buckets of water — this isn’t that kind of sauna. This is a home infrared sauna.
Sleek, modern, plugs into the wall, and doesn’t require planning permission.
I’d seen infrared saunas everywhere. Recovery centres. Instagram. People claiming they’d transformed their sleep, recovery, skin, stress levels — possibly their entire personality.
But do infrared saunas actually work? And more importantly — are infrared saunas safe, or am I slowly cooking myself from the inside out?
So I decided to review the Polar Recovery sauna properly. No gimmicks. No extremes. Just consistency.
Here’s what happened.
What Even Is An Infrared Sauna?
A traditional Finnish sauna is a wooden room heated by hot stones, often reaching 80–100 °C.
Hot. Relentless. Character-building.
An infrared sauna works differently. Instead of heating the air, it uses infrared light to warm your body directly. Because of that, they run cooler — usually 45–65 °C — but still make you sweat, raise your heart rate, and increase blood flow.
In short: less suffocating heat, less warm-up time, and a far more realistic option for home use.
The Science Bit (Infrared Sauna Benefits Without the Lab Coat)
So, what does sitting in a glowing heat box actually do for you?
Most of the strongest sauna research still comes from traditional Finnish saunas — the big wooden rooms heated to frankly daft temperatures.
Those long-running studies consistently link regular sauna use with better heart health, lower blood pressure, reduced stress, and improved overall wellbeing, including a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke
Infrared saunas run cooler and heat you more directly. Until recently, the research on them was thinner — but that’s starting to change.
The logic is simple. If infrared saunas trigger the same core body responses — raised heart rate, increased blood flow, sweating, and nervous-system calming — then many of the benefits should overlap. And newer studies suggest that’s exactly what’s happening.
Heart health
Large population studies show regular sauna bathing is linked with lower blood pressure and reduced cardiovascular risk
That evidence still mainly comes from traditional Finnish saunas. However, studies using lower-temperature dry heat (around 60 °C) have also shown improvements in circulation and vascular function, suggesting extreme heat isn’t strictly necessary to see benefits
Direct infrared-specific cardiovascular studies are still limited, but newer research suggests infrared saunas can raise heart rate, blood flow, and skin temperature in ways that plausibly overlap with traditional sauna responses.
Muscle recovery
View this post on Instagram
This is where infrared research has grown the most.
A randomised trial in trained athletes found that a single infrared sauna session after exercise improved recovery of explosive performance and reduced muscle soreness compared with passive rest.
Earlier work also showed far-infrared sauna bathing supported recovery after both strength and endurance training.
Sleep, mood & stress
Heating up before bed and then cooling down helps the body fall asleep faster — this effect is well established.
A meta-analysis on warm baths and passive body heating showed improved sleep onset and sleep quality when heat exposure occurred before bedtime and whole-body heat exposure has also been shown to reduce stress and improve mood, including trials using controlled heat as a treatment for mild depression
Bottom line:
Traditional saunas still dominate the long-term research, but infrared-specific studies are rapidly filling the gaps — especially around recovery, circulation, and stress.
Infrared Sauna First Impressions
When the home infrared sauna arrived, I was genuinely impressed by how good it looked.
The wood panelling is clean, modern, and fits perfectly with the oak furniture in my bedroom — it actually looks like it belongs there.
The build quality feels solid and well finished. Nothing flimsy. Nothing cheap.
The mood lighting gives proper spa vibes rather than “home gym equipment”.
Add the built-in speakers, a bit of chilled music, and switching off for 15 minutes is effortless.
Credit where it’s due as well — the lads who delivered and set it up were great. Friendly, efficient, and had everything up and running with zero hassle.
First impressions? Very strong.
My 30-Day Sauna Experiment (And What I Actually Noticed)
I went into this Polar Recovery sauna review with pretty modest expectations.
Most of what I’d read about infrared saunas made them sound like the “lighter” option: not as hot as a Finnish saunas, more gentle, more mild.
So I set a simple goal.
60 minutes of sauna per week, split into 15 minutes on four nights, always before bed.
Night one changed everything.
Within a few minutes, I was absolutely pis*ing with sweat (Scottish term). Not a polite glow — proper, full-body drip.
Honestly, if you’d blindfolded me and sat me down inside it, I wouldn’t have known whether I was in an infrared sauna or a Finnish one. It felt properly hot. It even had that lovely warm wood panel smell you only get in real saunas.
Most nights, I’d head in once the kids were in bed and the house finally went quiet. I’d set the temperature to 65 °C — it can go higher (up to 75), but 65 was more than enough for me. I’d sit down, let the heat build, and read a paperback book.
Phones and Kindles get far too hot in there, so an old-school book was perfect. No notifications. No scrolling. Just heat, quiet, and a bit of peace.
I used an app on my phone called GoPolar to track my sessions.
Here's an example of what one looked like (notice the rise in HR):
As the weeks went on, it became a proper ritual. Hot. Quiet. Deeply relaxing.
The deep heat genuinely soothed sore muscles after training. Nothing dramatic — just less stiffness hanging around and a general feeling of being looser and more comfortable the next day.
Sleep was the biggest win by far.
On sauna nights, I fell asleep noticeably quicker.
No lying there replaying the day in my head.
No restless tossing and turning.
It was always the same flow: sauna, quick shower, into bed, out like a light.
By the end of the month, I’d completely revised my opinion. Infrared isn’t a watered-down alternative to a Finnish sauna. It’s just a different way of delivering heat — and in my experience, an equally effective one.
And when something helps you relax, recover, and sleep better night after night, it doesn’t feel like an experiment anymore. It just becomes part of how you wind the day down.
The Downsides (Because Nothing’s Perfect)
There is an initial cost.
A home infrared sauna isn’t pocket change. The one I used - The Polar Recovery Nova 1-person Infrared Sauna - sets you back around £2500 (but if you use the code FFF10 you'll get a 10% discount)
But compared with building a traditional sauna or paying for regular spa visits, it’s far more affordable.
Running costs are modest too — around 20–25p per 15–20 minute session, which works out at roughly £60–£90 per year if used most nights.
For me, the benefits easily outweighed that.
Final Verdict — Would I Recommend It?
After completing my 30-day Polar Recovery Sauna Review, I have to say yes. Without hesitation!
I know "inflooenzers" are notorious for claiming every product they use is the best thing since sliced bread....
But I hardly ever recommend other products or do sponsored posts because most things I get offered are garbage.
Thefore, when I say that this sauna is the bomb, I don't do it lightly!
I’ll be sticking with my protocol — 15 minutes, four nights a week, before bed. Simple. Effective. Enjoyable.
It’s not a miracle cure. But it is a genuinely useful tool for relaxation, recovery, and sleep — and one I’ll keep using for the foreseable future.
So if you're keen to get one, the Polar folks sent me over the code FFF10 and it will knock 10% off your order.
