You know how mince dishes always taste better the next day once the mince has had a chance to absorb more of the flavour from the sauce? Well cooking mince in a slow cooker gives you that delicious, rich taste on day one, straight out of the pot.

Bolognese is a classic recipe that is often over-complicated by adding too many ingredients. This is a simple recipe, that just uses the basics to give it a delicious flavour - wine, smoked bacon and tomatoes. As always, if you don't want to add in the booze, that's fine, just use more stock although it won't have the same depth of flavour.

Lastly, if you like this, don't forget that there is an entire slow cooker recipe book that you can download if you want more recipes: The High Protein Handbook 4 - Slow Cooker Special.
