Dinna worry, we get it. You're afa confused. Irn Bru in a main course. Fit's a that aboot?
We'll revert to English now so you don't leave..
If you've never heard of an Irn Bru before, it's Scotland's favourite fizzy drink. It's a bit like a Coke in the sense that you can't really describe the taste, nobody knows what goes into it but it tastes pretty good.
When we released our high protein slow cooker recipe book, we couldn't believe how many people bought it and LOVED the recipes which got us thinking. Would Irn Bru work in a dish as a main course? Quite simply, yes, yes it does and it works well!
This recipe is like a sweet and sour dish. The smoked paprika and Worcester sauce delivers the savoury hit and the Irn Bru provides a tasty sweetness to the dish, almost like a glaze. Now if you don't have Irn Bru where you're from, Coke will work just fine.
Don't get too caught up about the sugar in this recipe either, there is the equivalent of 1/5 of a can per serving, not really worth getting all upset about. If you do want to cut the calories, you can use a Diet Irn Bru but the sauce doesn't taste as good so go on, treat yourself to a can of the proper stuff.
